Advocate An advocate is someone who helps people express their point of view in difficult situations where they might feel vulnerable or overwhelmed.
Alzheimer's disease Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, which describes the loss of mental abilities, such as memory and reasoning.
Anxiety A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties.
Approved Social Workers (ASW) Have specialist training, and are involved in assessing a person for possible admission to hospital under the Mental Health Act, and have overall responsibility for co-ordinating the process of assessment.
Agoraphobia The World Health Organisation defines agoraphobia as a cluster of phobias (irrational fears) related to leaving home, entering shops, being in crowds and public places, or travelling alone on buses, trains or planes.
